House 13, Amangal Community
The refurbishment of House 13 at Amangal as part of the Town Camp Project, involved the complete reconstruction of the house with new walls, ceiling, flooring, windows, plumbing and electrical installed throughout. A fully enclosed rear verandah was added and a small, covered timber deck with bench seating was installed at the front of the property.
A new kitchen and new bathroom fixtures and fittings were installed with wet areas opened up and linen cupboards fitted to increase ventilation and reduce the likelihood of potentially hazardous mould and mildew. Works also included installation of a new water meter and sewer vent to Power Water’s specifications.
Indigenous employment
DICE currently employs over 40 full time staff, over 30% of which are Indigenous. Two of our Indigenous staff are local Amangal residents.
Sustainable impact
With the significant changes to House 13 at Amangal, the residents have more room to breathe and more functional, healthy space for their family.
